Perinatal Mental Health Support
Perinatal mental health refers to the emotional wellbeing of women during pregnancy and up to the first year after childbirth.
One in five women experience mental health problems during pregnancy or in the first year after birth. It is natural to feel a lot of different emotions while pregnant. If you are feeling sad or anxious and it is starting to affect your life, please seek support by speaking to those close to you, your GP, Midwife or Health Visitor.
- Cheshire and Merseyside Specialist Perinatal Service provides important mental health assessment and support for local women and birthing people, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues.
- NHS Mental Health Services are there to support anyone who is in crisis or concerned for family and loved ones. You can call 111, select the mental health option and speak to a trained mental health professional.
- Wirral Talking Therapies is a free and confidential service, available to anyone who is aged 16+ and registered with a GP in the Wirral. You can self refer for support if you are experiencing a common mental health problem
- Branch is Wirral’s online wellbeing hub for anyone under the age of 18 (or 25 with SEND) to find local mental health support.
