Sadly, sometimes pregnancy can go wrong. There is information and support available when pregnancy doesn’t follow the plan and if you experience birth trauma or baby loss.
Allow yourself time to grieve. There’s no ‘right’ way to grieve, and there is no timeline. You may feel sadness, anger, guilt, numbness – or all of them at once.
Lean on your support network. You don’t have to go through this alone. Let loved ones know what you need – whether it’s company, space, meals, or just someone to listen.
Be kind to yourself. Your body’s been through a lot, rest when you can. There is no pressure to bounce back, take care of yourself like you would a close friend
Elsie’s Moon aims to support families when pregnancy doesn’t follow the plan. They host one-off sessions including crafts, memory-making and walks to continue with our journey in breaking the silence around fertility, loss and trauma. Providing a safe place surrounded by those who ‘get it’.
The Twins Trust Bereavement Service exists to support all parents and carers of twins, triplets or more who have died whether it was during or after pregnancy.
The Lullaby Trust raises awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.
