Autism Central is a peer education programme, commissioned by NHS England. It aims to build knowledge and understanding of autism and empower families and carers to advocate for autistic people they support. Local support helps families to get the right understanding and adjustments in place across the services they use. Everything the programme does is informed by, or co-produced with autistic people, families and carers.
Are you a family member or carer of an autistic child or adult?
Are you looking for support, but not sure where to start?
Our Autism Central Hubs offer guidance to families, carers and personal assistants of autistic people. All of our sessions are run by Peer Educators. These are parents or carers of autistic people, who are happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. They offer group and one-to-one sessions to help you and other parents and carers find the information and services available in your area.
Autism Central North West Hub
Great Minds Together are delighted to be the Regional Hub for the North West region for Autism Central where parents and carers can book a 1:1 appointment with a Wraparound Coordinator here in the North West.
We are here to listen, offer guidance and help you find services that are available in your local area, and this can be done via the phone, in person, virtually and even by text and email. We are flexible and can work around your needs.
We also offer group sessions every month for parents, carers, and personal assistants. All our sessions are run by Peer Educators and cover a wide range of topics. All our Peer Educators are parents or carers of autistic people or may be autistic themselves and they are happy to share their knowledge and experience with you.
