Sadly, sometimes pregnancy can go wrong. There is information and support available when pregnancy doesn’t follow the plan and if you experience birth trauma or baby loss.
Allow yourself time to grieve. There’s no ‘right’ way to grieve, and there is no timeline. You may feel sadness, anger, guilt, numbness – or all of them at once.
Lean on your support network. You don’t have to go through this alone. Let loved ones know what you need – whether it’s company, space, meals, or just someone to listen.
Be kind to yourself. Your body’s been through a lot, rest when you can. There is no pressure to bounce back, take care of yourself like you would a close friend
The Alder Centre is here for you. The death of a child, regardless of how old you or the child is, is one of the worst things that can happen. No-one will be able to tell you exactly how it feels because everyone reacts and feels differently. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. The Alder Centre is here for you.
The Twins Trust Bereavement Service exists to support all parents and carers of twins, triplets or more who have died whether it was during or after pregnancy. We are sorry for your loss and hope that by making contact with the Bereavement Service you will find some comfort to help you with your grief.
The Lullaby Trust raises awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.
