A Child Protection Plan is a plan which says what needs to happen to make things better for a child and to keep them safe.
A Child Protection Plan will stay in place as long as it is needed for the changes to happen.
Most children on a Plan will live with their families.
Having a Plan does not mean that a child will be taken away from the family.
The child will have a social worker.
The social worker will work with you to support changes to keep the child safe.
The social worker will explain what parents and families need to do to make sure their child is safe
As a group, you the family, the social worker and other professionals will recommend things to do to help make these changes.
There will be Core Group meetings to check progress with the Plan every 4 weeks.
If changes to make things better for a child don’t happen, or don’t happen quickly enough, Children’s Social Care might apply to court.
It is only a court (or in emergencies the police) who can decide a child is not safe to stay at home.
