There is no ‘right way’ to play – what matters more is children having the time and space to grow in confidence. Children will move back and forth between types of play- this is very unique to each individual child. Learning to share and take turns is a massive skill to master for children- this takes time and patience from adults in order to effectively develop. Learning should always happen in a play based way – make it fun!
