Rape Crisis England & Wales

Rape Crisis England & Wales is the feminist charity working to end child sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment and all other forms of sexual violence.

We are also the membership organisation for Rape Crisis centres across England and Wales. Together with our 37 member centres, we work to deliver specialist services to those affected by sexual violence and abuse, and aim to educate, influence and make change.

Our vision:

We want a world without sexual violence where all women and girls live safely, freely and with dignity.

Our Mission:

We work for women and girls, in partnership with our member centres, to:

  • Transform attitudes about sexual violence and abuse.
  • Improve responses for all victims and survivors.
  • End sexual violence and abuse in all its forms.

Get help

Whether it happened recently or a long time ago – or you’re not sure what happened – we have lots of information and support that might help. You are not alone.

No matter when, where or how it happened, you can come to us.

We have lots of information and support that can help – and we’ll always listen to you and believe you.

‘Sexual violence’ is the term we use to mean any type of sexual activity without consent. This includes rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse and sexual harassment.

Not sure where to start?

It can be hard to know what to do next. But, whether it happened recently or in the past – or you’re not sure what happened – we are here for you.

Not sure what happened to you or if it ‘counts’?

This service is for you too.

If something sexual happened to you that you didn’t want or that you didn’t have the freedom and capacity to agree to (maybe because you were unconscious or a child), that is not okay.

All forms of sexual violence, abuse and harassment can have a serious and long-lasting impact on people’s lives.

We will never think you’re wasting our time and we will never judge you.

How can we help you?

Our trained team of specialists are here to listen to you, believe you and answer any questions that you might have.

We can also share information and resources that might help you to:

  • Better understand what happened.
  • Work out what you would like to do next – if anything.
  • Support you through difficult times or when you feel like you can’t cope.
  • Find longer-term support, such as counselling or another type of therapy (please note that there might be waiting lists).

Rape Crisis Centres

Our member Rape Crisis centres provide free, local support and services for victims and survivors of rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse and all other forms of sexual violence.

See our website to find your local centre.

We’re here for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse

Our name can be misleading. But Rape Crisis England & Wales – and our 36 member centres – have expertise in all forms of sexual violence and abuse, including child sexual abuse.

Who is this aimed at?

We are a service for anyone aged 16 and over in England and Wales who has been affected by rape, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment or any other form of sexual violence – at any point in their life.

This includes people of all genders who have experienced sexual violence or abuse, as well as anyone supporting them.
