Listening support service for self-harm - SIFT

Sift’s listening services offer free, compassionate and confidential support over phone, text and email. They are available to help people of all ages, genders and backgrounds in the United Kingdom who may be experiencing emotional distress related to self-harm.

When you reach out to Sift you will talk with one of their trained volunteers who are experienced in how to help people in your situation. They will listen to you, help you explore your story and feelings, and support you in any decisions you choose to make.

You can also visit their website for access to a self-help resource library.

Who is it aimed at:

Sift support people affected by self-harm, whether it’s something they’re experiencing personally or they’re concerned about someone else. They hear from people of all ages and genders.

When:

  • Phone lines are open on a Monday and Thursday6pm to 9pm
  • Text service is available Monday to Friday6pm to 9pm
  • Email service is available anytime and you will receive a reply within 1 week
