Since 1988 we have been supporting women and girls in emotional distress and offering education and information about self-injury, the reasons behind it and best practices in support around self-injury. Our vision is that anyone who uses self-injury knows they are not alone; that everyone understands that self-injury is a complex and important issue we should all care about; and that together we tackle both the causes and stigma of self-injury.
Whether you are personally affected by self-harm or someone close to you is, we are here to listen. It could be something that is happening in your life at the moment, or a thing of the past - we offer an anonymous, confidential and non-judgmental service for anyone who needs a chat.
On Thursdays, both the helpline and text services will be staffed by self-identifying women only. Anyone of any gender is welcome to contact us on both nights, but if you feel more comfortable or safe talking to a woman, Thursdays might be the best night for you.
And don't worry if you've never called a helpline before, we will take all the time you need to make sure you feel comfortable and there is no pressure to share if you're not ready. Sometimes just making the first call can be a huge step and you are always welcome to speak to us again in the future!

How to get involved
Phone us on 0808 800 8088 or text us on 07537 432444.
All messages are answered by volunteers who have received specialist training. You can talk about anything you want to and we won’t tell anyone you contacted us unless you or someone else is at risk of immediate harm and you give us information that could be used to identify you or them. We will never ask for this information.
We reply to messages during our opening hours. If you text outside of these, we'll reply to you the next time we're open. We aim to respond fairly quickly, but our responses may take longer if we're very busy. We'll update you if we're receiving a high number of texts so that you know our responses might slow down.
