What can we help with?

We are the experts on getting the right help for children and young people with SLCN and all related queries. In particular, we can give information about:

  • Speech, language and communication difficulties – the various types, how to identify them and how they affect children and young people
  • How to get a diagnosis and why you might need one
  • Speech and language therapy
  • How schools can and should help
  • Choosing the right school for your child
  • The statutory assessment process, plans, statements and your legal rights to help for your child

Who is this aimed at?

Afasic supports parents and carers with children and young people who have difficulties with listening, talking and understanding others.

 

Whether you are a parent or carer seeking help for the first time, looking for additional help or as a young person who is still managing challenges with talking, we hope that we can help you to find the information and access the support that you need.

 

Opening Hours

The helpline is open Monday & Wednesday, 10:30am to 4pm.

 

Cost

This support is free, there is no cost.
