The Reader are a national charity that wants to bring about a Reading Revolution so that everyone can experience and enjoy great literature, which we believe is a tool for helping humans survive and live well.
We read with schools, families and looked-after-children, adults in community spaces, people in care homes, people with physical and mental health conditions, those coping with or recovering from addiction, and people in the criminal justice system.
Everything we do builds warm and lively communities by bringing people together and books to life.
The Storybarn
The Storybarn is a magical, multi-purpose family space at The Reader’s home in Calderstones Park.
Perfectly positioned in the heart of the park (and crucially, next to the Ice Cream Parlour), the Storybarn is a one-of-a-kind reading retreat for children and their grown-ups.
Little ones can let their imaginations run wild, discovering new stories to share, and taking part in unique experiences, alongside arts and crafts.
The Storybarn is a fully inclusive experience and all children are welcome.
