The Death Cafe is a concept that developed in 2011 with the idea of a group directed discussion about death and life in between, with no set agenda, themes or objectives, just the hope that having a safe space to discuss feelings about the inevitable over coffee and cake will help to take the fear out of the often stigmatised topic.
It is not for grief and bereavement support, but to allow you to be open-minded in what is to come with our finite time here, with the hope that you leave the cafe feeling uplifted.
At Open Door, they reimagine what mental health support looks, sounds, and feels like using innovation, arts, and culture as catalysts for change.
Joy is a place that’s always evolving, with a programme of events, workshops and activities for you to explore. From creative sessions and exhibitions to wellbeing workshops and community events, there’s always something happening at Joy. It is the birthplace of a mental health support, social action, arts and culture space. Based in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead, they are a multipurpose community hub.
