Having a baby is a life-changing and wonderful experience . Wirral maternity services provide support to all pregnant women and guide them every step of the way. All pregnant women in Wirral have a named Community Midwife to provide individualised professional and supportive antenatal and postnatal care, regardless of the intended place of birth.

  • Maternity Services – Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital – to register your pregnancy you can make a self referral using this link. Alternatively you can call 0151 604 7777. Following this, you will receive appointments in the post. Midwifery Support workers can provide support to pregnant women in the community. Please ask your midwife for further information.
  • Financial Supportexplore the benefits you and your partner may be entitled to when you are pregnant, such as maternity pay, Heathy Start, NHS prescriptions and dental care.
  • Antenatal classes provides you and your birth partner with all the necessary information and practical skills to help prepare for labour and birth. This is a 3 session package covering building connections, labour and birth and caring for your newborn.
  • My Baby Club This session covers practical aspects of caring for your new baby, it’s held in community venues, in a relaxed and informal setting and run by the Maternity Support Worker team.
