Did you know we are the world’s oldest racecourse still in operation? History is a big part of who we are. The current racecourse site used to be entirely underwater. Where the racecourse is now, was once an important harbour during the Roman occupation and provided a vital space for ships to enter and depart with goods and soldiers. You can even still see some of the old anchor points in the iconic city walls which run around the racecourse.
Family Fun Day 2025
Our much-loved Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday 3rd August and as always, promises to be filled with exciting entertainment from start to finish. This race day has the community at its heart as we welcome local businesses to host a range of activities for the little ones including fun fairs, inflatable play zones, music workshops, craft activities and much more.
