Who’s in Charge for Early Intervention Support – Next Chapter NW

Who's in Charge for Early Intervention Support - Next Chapter NW

Next Chapter is an early intervention service, to improve life outcomes and reduce the number of referrals to statutory services, with the escalation of mental health difficulties for both children and adults. Now offering online support courses.

Who's in Charge?

Are you a parent who feels like you're losing or lost control of your child's behaviour?

Perhaps you're experiencing verbal or physical abuse and feeling isolated.

This course aims to:

  • Reduce parent's feelings of isolation
  • Challenge parent's feelings of guilt
  • Reinforce belief in the possibility of change (without giving false hope or creating complacency)
  • Clarify boundaries of what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour (harder than it sounds as there are many grey areas and we need to avoid imposing our own values)
  • Arm parents with some simple concepts that have proved empowering, e.g. entitlement, the power of being irresponsible, etc
  • Examine strategies for creating meaningful practical consequences for unacceptable behaviour
  • Explore anger
  • Encourage assertiveness
  • Encourage self-care
  • Connect with other parents to promote co-care and support

Next Chapter is passionate about offering this course at the earliest possible point of difficulty and particularly welcomes professionals who may require a bespoke environment to access the programme.

This is aimed at parents and professionals who may benefit from the course.
