Omega is a registered charity dedicated to reducing social isolation and loneliness.
Although Omega was founded as a specialist end-of-life care charity in 2007, our work has gradually refocused over the years, to reflect the needs of our clients. We discovered that while not all of them are dealing with end-of-life issues, the one thing that unites them is a daily struggle with feelings of isolation and loneliness. We now offer our services to anyone aged 18 or over, living in the UK.
Omega is run from a small head office in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, but our services are open to clients throughout the UK. Our work is made possible by an ever-growing team of generous and varied volunteers.

Omega is building relationships with schools to help combat isolation.
Pupil Pals is a free befriending service in which socially isolated and lonely clients receive regular cards and pictures made for Omega by creative children.
Write Special Cards – Some people don’t have family or friends to send them cards on special occasions. Make exciting cards for OMEGA and we will send them to lonely people for you.
Create Magic Pictures – Paint or draw amazing pictures for OMEGA. We will send your works of art to lonely people who cannot wait for you to bring some colour into their lives.
Student Friends – Omega is working with secondary schools and colleges to deliver the free befriending service, Student Friends.
Socially isolated and lonely clients can receive supportive letters from student befrienders, who write about their lives, hobbies and friends. Clients can also write back, if they wish. All letters are exchanged via Omega; clients and befrienders do not know each other’s addresses or full names
Umbrella is a new initiative to connect and unite support groups around the UK. Omega will support the network of groups by publicising their events under one banner, sharing information, and signposting members to useful services.

To get started, please see our website to complete the relevant referral form for either yourself or someone you know.
Please email to register your school or college. Once registered, you can send us batches of cards, pictures or letters made by your pupils as often as you wish. We will forward them to lonely people who can’t wait to receive them.
