Finding the right childcare

Finding childcare that suits both your little one and your work life, can be difficult. It is good to plan ahead as there could be a waiting list at your preferred setting.

Types of Childcare

  • Day nursery
  • Childminder
  • Pre-school
  • School wrap around care – breakfast clubs & after school clubs

Top Tips for choosing childcare

  • Ensure the hours that can be provided suit your needs.
  • Check hourly/daily or weekly costs. Are meals, snacks, nappies included?
  • Do you get a lovely welcome when visiting?
  • Are the premises safe and clean, bright and airy? Is there outside space?
  • Are the activities fun and varied? Is there plenty of opportunity to learn?
  • What is their daily routine? Would this work for your child?
  • Are the staff trained and experienced? What is the staff to children ratio?
