Behaviour as communication

Over half of our communication is non verbal. We all use behaviour to communicate in pretty much every moment of every day. Babies may cry when hungry or wet, just like we as adults may give a lengthy yawn when bored.

When children become overloaded with emotions it shows through their behaviour. As parents we need to manage our own feelings so that we can be available to help them manage theirs. This isn’t always an easy thing to do.

In this video, you’ll learn about…

  1. our brain and how it works
  2. flight, fight and freeze
  3. responses to threat and fear
