WellChild

WellChild is the national UK children’s charity making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible.

This takes place through a range of practical and emotional support, training and information programmes.

The Family Welfare Advisor Service helps families caring for a child with complex needs to thrive at home by offering support with applying for disability benefits, accessing grants and providing information on local services.

The service is open to parent carers in the Northwest of England and can be made by professionals working with the parents or by the parents themselves.

The WellChild Family Tree is a growing network of families from across the UK, all of whom have children with complex needs. It enables parents to connect with others who ‘get it’ for mutual support, advice and friendship.

Members of the Family Tree have the opportunity to meet up, make friends and share experiences, join our closed Facebook group and take part in family events and activities.

We believe every child, young person and family must have:

  • The opportunity to be cared for at home whenever and wherever possible.
  • Access to high quality, appropriate care and services whatever their health needs.
  • Involvement in all decisions regarding their care.

Who is this aimed at?
