The Milk Bank @ Chester is the largest NHS milk bank in England and has provided donor milk to over 70 hospital neonatal units. We can supply donor breastmilk anywhere in England and Wales and we aim to make safe, screened donor milk available to any baby that needs it regardless of the location of their birth.
If your baby is under 6 months old and you have enough milk to feed other babies as well as your own, please complete our Become a Donor form and we will be in touch.

To help us maintain our service it would be really helpful if you could check if you meet our donor criteria before contacting us.
The main criteria are:
- baby under 6 months old
- not taking certain medications including antibiotics, antidepressants, blood pressure medications
- not exceeding 1-2 units of alcohol once or twice a week, a non-smoker and no one in the household smokes
- live in England north of Birmingham or in Wales
The Milk Bank at Chester is an NHS service and 98% of the milk we supply is issued to babies in neonatal care. We can only provide donor milk to babies at home following a clinical request from a health professional looking after a family and with confirmation that NHS funding is in place. We are a not-for-profit NHS service and donors give their milk freely however funding must be in place to cover the cost of processing and testing the milk (£130 per litre).
