Sitting where the Shropshire Union Canal meets the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey, this transhipment dock, once a noisy, bustling hub is now an area of calm and tranquillity.
Come and savour the peacefulness of being outdoors by the canal, absorb the history emanating from the Grade II listed buildings and learn about the lives and work of the canal people as you stroll around this seven-acre site.
During each year, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and holds special events for Easter, Halloween and Christmas (additional charges may apply) as well as Canal Town every Sunday during the summer with each one having a different theme.
There is much to see and is a great place for friends and families to meet up for a wonderful day out. Our café and shop are open to all and there is nothing more relaxing than sitting with a drink and something to eat in our Waterside Café. There is also a waterways themed playground for the Under 12’s which our younger visitors enjoy immensely.
You can also just drop in for a short while by making use of our annual pass which, for a standard admission fee, allows you to visit as many times as you like for a year.
