Liverpool Bereavement Service (LBS) has been supporting people experiencing bereavement and loss since 1998. We are a dedicated bereavement service for children and adults across the Liverpool City Region.
Everyone experiences loss and bereavement at some stage during their lives. This can be a harrowing and life shattering time. People experience bereavement in many ways from emotional numbness to anger and guilt.
Often people feel that there is no-one to turn to and find it hard, sometimes impossible, to cope with the overwhelming grief.
Liverpool Bereavement Services provide 1:1 counselling for people who are struggling to cope with a loss.
Grief is a natural response following the loss of someone significant in your life. It may be a spouse, relative, friend or colleague or anyone else whose loss is difficult to bear.
Our counsellors will understand that grief is a highly personal experience and provide the time, space and therapeutic support specific to your needs.
Volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and deliver sensitive, non-judgemental and empathic counselling support specific to the problems people are experiencing.
We are an inclusive service working with adults of all ages and children and their families from four to eighteen years of age.
Please contact us if you would like help coping with the difficulties you face due to loss and bereavement.
Oakleaf Children's Service
Oakleaf is the Children’s and Young People’s service at Liverpool Bereavement Service. It is a well-established and dedicated counselling service that provides support on a 1:1 and/or group basis for children and young people.
Oakleaf is a dedicated bereavement service for children and young people who are affected by bereavement, loss and separation in their life.
If your child is experiencing loss which can include the loss of a person in traumatic circumstances, our team of experienced counsellors can help them explore this difficult event.
Counselling
During lockdown we offered a telephone & Zoom counselling to all of our clients to ensure that were supported through a particularly difficult when they may not have had the support of the family and friends. This service proved to be very valuable and we have made the decision to continue to offer this service to those people who want to access counselling and support in this way.
These telephone & Zoom sessions mean that you are still receiving quality support from our experienced, qualified counsellors to help you process your loss. Having this system in place means that should anything happen in the future, and we have to pause our face to face counselling, we have a tried and tested system to bridge the gap and reach people in need.
