Wirral Domestic Abuse Alliance is a formal partnership between a range of statutory authorities and voluntary organisations. The Alliance oversees the delivery of the Wirral Plan’s Zero Tolerance to Domestic Abuse Pledge and allows all members to bring matters to the attention of other partners.
It is open to anyone who may be experiencing or think they are experiencing domestic abuse. A confidential service for male and female victims and is for anyone over the age of 16 years.
Domestic abuse is any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse and are at risk of serious harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members, you can talk about this to a professional who can offer support. This includes Wirral’s Domestic Abuse support service, where an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) can be available to support you.
The Alliance is currently set up in five working groups. Each group meets every six weeks and responds to the Domestic Abuse Change Board. Each subgroup of the domestic abuse alliance is made up of professionals working within services across the partnership and lay members. Lay members are members of the community who have experienced domestic abuse in their life and can offer their feelings, thoughts and experiences in order to shape future provision.
