Barnardo’s Action with Young Carers supports children and young people aged 5 to 18 who provide care to an adult who may have physical illness or disability, mental ill-health, terminal health condition or drug/alcohol issues. Some illnesses cannot be seen. Service continues to provide blended support (face-to-face & digital) and complete assessment on behalf of the Local Authority to identify a need and the right support to reduce the negative impact of caring.
Who are we?
Barnardo’s Action With Young Carers Wirral provides specialist support to Young Carers aged 5 to 18 who provide care to an adult who may have physical illness or disability, mental ill-health, terminal health condition or drug/alcohol issues.
We aim to make a difference to Young Carers and their families, giving someone to talk to who will listen and help them through difficult times to reduce the negative impact of caring (whether physical or emotional)
Young Carers may need a break from caring, emotional support or support in School or College.
We offer opportunities to engage with other young carers and offer help, advice, and support to the adults they care for.
We do this by providing specialist support for each child and their family including through assessments (information gathering):
