Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm

Boundary Road, CH43 7PD

Tam O'Shanter Urban Farm

A little jewel in the middle of Bidston, Tam O’Shanter is in the heart of the community, providing fun, education and volunteering opportunities for all ages. We encourage engagement with nature at every level and promote enhanced levels of mental and physical well-being through exercise, horticulture, outdoor activity, nature trails, scavenger hunts, regular events and more.

Situated on Bidston Hill on the Wirral, the Tam O'Shanter historic cottage and free urban farm is run by a charitable trust with the aim of providing an enjoyable and educational experience for kids and adults alike.

We aim to become the Wirral centre of excellence in wildlife care alongside managing, sustaining and developing our public access urban farm.

We provide a lifelong sanctuary for the animals in our care whilst committing to educating children and adults about how their food is grown and reared.

Who is this aimed at?

This is open to all.

Opening Times

The farm is open daily from 9:30am to 4:30pm except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

How to get involved

There is no need to book for individual and family visits. The farm welcomes groups of all ages including corporate volunteering days, children’s parties and school visits, please contact us for further details.

We have taken great care to be a safe place for children to play and adults to relax, to be accessible for disabled people and to be an educational as well as a fun place to visit. All paths are wheelchair accessible with disabled parking adjacent to the entrance and level access through the main entrance to all farm areas. There are ramps to the disabled toilets and cafe.

Please remember when visiting the farm that all the animals can bite, or peck, please treat them with respect.

The farm is run by the Tam O’Shanter Cottage Urban Farm Trust - We rely on visitors’ generous donations and we need your donations to ensure we maintain free entry for all. You can also volunteer, become a Friend of the Farm and Sponsor an Animal.
