Prom Ally offers the free loan of prom dresses and suits to school children, sixth form students and college students across the UK who otherwise couldn't afford one.
Being linked with schools, social services, food banks and charities, Prom Ally runs on a referral basis. We’ve loaned out hundreds of dresses since starting and are able to offer out a range of suits too.
Having started out with 15 dresses bought from charity shops, we have now had over 3000 dresses donated to Prom Ally. All our outfits are donations either from the public or from businesses and we currently accept dresses, suits, shirts and trousers. For quality purposes, every item is checked and freshly laundered before each loan.
How it works
You need to be referred by your school, social services, local authority, food bank or a charity to use our free service. We need to be contacted firstly by your referee using our form. (If this is a problem, please get in touch explaining your situation).
Once a referral form has been received and accepted, have a look at our collections and you or your referee can email us with your dress/suit choices so we can check measurements and availability. Ally will then explain what happens next and request a voluntary £10 donation from your referee.
Then be sure to have the most amazing night ever.
Once you've enjoyed your occasion, pop your item(s) in the free returns postage bag and send it back to us. (Pssst - this is all anonymous unless you say otherwise).
Who is this aimed at?
There are two aspects of Prom Ally:
- The first is for teenagers who are experiencing financial hardship and would not normally be able to attend their school prom. Prom Ally provides the free loan of an outfit.
- Secondly, Prom Ally is a supporter of sustainable fashion. Our Eco Wardrobe enables people from all backgrounds who may not be struggling financially to be able to hire an outfit in an eco-friendly way.
