Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. We aim to build an environment where young people enjoy fun, friendship and outdoor adventure. They develop a sense of optimism and strong values as well as the leadership and teamwork skills that are more valuable today than ever before.
Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
Across Merseyside, our plan is simple, we will support amazing leaders to deliver an inspiring programme and prepare more young people with skills for life. We’ll contribute to a better society. But most of all our plan is for young people. They deserve the best skills, the best support and the best possible futures.
Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges. Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for everyone. And we’ll help them find it.
