Friends of Hilbre Island are hosting an open day, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the island and access historic buildings that are not normally open to the public. This will be a great opportunity to talk with experts about the island’s rich history and varied use throughout the ages.
The Dee Estuary in which the island lies is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and is made up of three tidal islands, Little Eye, Middle Eye and the largest island Hilbre Island.
All funds raised through donations will be used to restore and maintain the historic buildings on Hilbre Island.
