Alfie's Squad

Alfie’s Squad is committed to helping children bereaved by suicide rebuild their lives with a positive, supportive community of understanding friends.

Alfie’s Squad is a non-profit organisation started by 14 year old Alfie Fitzsimmons. Alfie tragically lost his dad to suicide in May 2017.

Our Mission: The core mission of Alfie’s Squad is to provide peer support to children and young people who have been bereaved by suicide. Remarkably, such dedicated support for children is not available anywhere in the UK. Alfie’s Squad provides a safe space in which young members and their families have the chance to build confidence and friendships, while reducing isolation with others who share similar experiences.

Activities

Alfie’s Squad peer support group for children bereaved by suicide runs weekly and is for children and young people between the ages of 6 to 17.

As well as being around other children, Alfie’s Squad provides a range of fun and engaging activities, including games and arts and crafts nights. The team also plan in additional sessions such as circus skills, graffiti workshops, DJ skills, podcasting, giant games night, Brazilian drumming, various sports and more.

Adult Support Group

We are not just creating a group for practical support; we are building a community that children, like Alfie, can call their own. In addition to the children’s support group, we also offer support to adults, with a young adults group (age 18 to 25) as well as a group for the parents or carers.

All of our suicide support groups are held at the same time and at the same venue to make it accessible for the whole family.

Who is this aimed at?
