Independent Biennial: Rising Darkness Workshops
Are you interested in taking part in creating a new floor mosaic? As part of the ‘Rising Darkness’ exhibition by Brigitte Jurack there are opportunities to join the artist in making a shared mosaic.
Historical evidence suggests that major mosaic schemes were undertaken by teams of people who shared the time-consuming task of slowly laying out the design on the floors of domestic houses, temples or assembly halls. This new mosaic is inspired by an unswept floor found in a Roman villa in Aquileia but is politicised to include modern debris and specially trained landmine-sniffing rats.
All workshops are drop-in apart from Friday 18 July, which has been reserved for group bookings of seven or more people.
