The Social Work in Schools Team was set up in Wirral in 2021 to help children and families by working closely with schools. Their role is to offer support at the right time, helping with small challenges before they become bigger problems.

How can they help?

Social workers in schools can:

  • Support children and young people with difficulties they may be having in their life.
  • Help families access the right services when they need them.
  • Work closely with teachers, health staff, and other services to make sure children get the best support.
  • Provide quick help and guidance when there are safeguarding concerns.

They focus on making sure children feel safe, supported, and able to do their best in school.

Where are they based?

The Social Work in Schools team are currently based in the following secondary schools:

  • South Wirral High School
  • St John Plessington
  • Hilbre High School
  • Woodchurch High School
  • Ridgeway High School
  • Clare Mount Specialist Sports College
  • Weatherhead High School
  • Oldershaw School
  • Mosslands School
  • Co-op Academy Bebington
