Milap

Milap

Established in 1985 as a way of bringing people across North West England together with a common love for the arts, Milap has grown into the UK’s leading Indian Arts and Culture company, with a remit that continues to focus on performance, learning and development.

Our Vision

At MILAP, our mission to unite hearts through arts drives everything we do. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to bring people together, shift perspectives, and create lasting positive change.

To ensure our work reaches and impacts as many people as possible, we focus on three main areas:

  • Experience - We produce inspiring and uplifting Indian arts and cultural experiences through concerts, festivals, commissions, collaborative cross-genre work, and content creation for a global audience.
  • Learn - We offer a variety of essential opportunities to learn through a variety of classes, workshops, resources and more which anyone interested in learning more about Indian arts can engage with – right from grassroots level through to professional artist.
  • Develop - We invest in the growth of young musicians and dancers in the UK through a comprehensive career pathway. Our Indian music ensembles form the bedrock of this important work, which leads to performance opportunities, music production, commissioning support and more.
  •

We present:

  • Music for the Mind and Soul - A concert series featuring the very best in Indian music
  • Arts School - Workshops and year-round classes in Indian music and dance
  • Instruments of India - A rich online resource of sounds, images and video exploring the instruments of India
  • Samyo - National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music
  • Tarang - An innovative Indian music collective of young aspiring and semi-professional musicians
  • Sabrang - The National Choir for Indian Music
  • Indika - A bi-annual festival of Indian arts and culture based in the Liverpool City Region
