Talk ED is the new name for Anorexia and Bulimia Care. We are a national charity supporting anyone affected by any eating disorder or eating distress. We will meet you wherever you are in your journey, with personalised support. A national UK eating disorders organisation with over 30 years of experience. We are passionate about people and recovery.
We offer but are not limited to the following support:
1:1 Support Calls
Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder or eating distress yourself, or worried about someone else, our peer support team is here to help - We know it can be difficult to reach out for help and talk about what you are experiencing. Our 1:1 support calls provide a safe space for you to ask questions and share your concerns for either yourself or a loved one. Our peer support team either have personal experience of recovery or has supported a loved one through recovery. They will meet you wherever you are in your journey, providing reassurance and emotional support with a focus on practical guidance and strategies to help you move forward.
Peer Support Group
Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder or eating distress yourself, or supporting a loved one, our online peer-led support groups are here to help.
Our groups take place on Tuesdays on Zoom and are open to anyone aged 18+ based in the UK. We currently run a group for individuals (those living with an eating disorder personally), and one for family, friends and carers supporting a loved one.
The sessions offer a safe, non-judgmental space to share your thoughts, feelings and challenges with others who have similar experiences. We keep the groups small in size to ensure that everyone feels comfortable speaking and sharing at a level that feels right for them (even if, for you, that means just listening).
Both groups are self-guided and moderated by a Talk ED team member with lived experience, and maybe assisted by trained volunteers.

Befriending
Our befriending service provides regular, long-term peer support connecting adults who are currently recovering from an eating disorder or eating distress with trained volunteer befrienders who have recovered.
- Have you recently been diagnosed with an eating disorder, or become aware of problems around food and eating?
- Do you find it hard to open up to friends and other people in your life, as you don’t feel that they understand?
- Are you feeling isolated, lonely, or overwhelmed?
If any of this sounds familiar, and you are over 18 with a BMI (body mass index) of 17 or above, and really ready to engage in recovery, then you are eligible to apply for a Talk ED Befriender.
To find out more information please Visit the TALK ED Befriending page.
We also offer other support services including online courses, online chat and nutritional guidance. In addition, we work tirelessly to increase awareness and understanding of eating disorders through talks, training and campaigns for change.
