Storyhouse is a charity. Our home in Chester incorporates a library, theatres, an independent cinema, a restaurant, and is a community and creative social space.
Young Leaders is for young people aged 14-25 with limited opportunities to connect with others, discover their passion and gain work skills. It is completely free.
We’ve worked with young people to find out what they want and need, and as part of Young Leaders they will receive mentoring, training and given practical opportunities to help them develop, create and grow both professionally and personally. Young Leaders is split into 2 age groups: 14-17 and 18-25
Young Leaders is especially well suited to young people who:
- are on an EHC plan
- are in or have left care
- are a carer
- are neurodiverse
- have low confidence
There will be -
- Regular skills sessions and practical training
- Opportunities to watch theatre and film
- Work on group projects and challenges
- Mentoring from Storyhouse staff
For young people aged 14 to 25 who may need extra support to gain skills, connect with others, discover their passion and develop work skills and knowledge of the creative industry
Both Young Leaders age groups run twice a year; with a March/April intake and a September/October intake. The programmes each run for 4 to 5 months
The 14 to 17 year old group meets 5pm to 8pm on Mondays
The 18 to 25 year old group meets 1pm to 4pm on Thursdays

Young people are often referred to us by a service, organisation or parent, but can sign up themselves.
Sign up yourself or refer a young person
Once a referral has been made, you’ll receive an email from Joe from the Young Leaders team to arrange a meeting. Then you’ll be invited to attend a taster session to make sure that Young Leaders is right for you, and to meet the team. Following this, you’ll join for the regular sessions.
