Coaching - Become

Become is the national charity working to improve the everyday lives and future life chances of children in care and young care leavers. Become provide advice and support, influence policy and practice, help guide the lives of young people in care and care leavers, enable them to achieve their education aspirations and train professionals who work with young people.

Coaching

We offer free coaching to care-experienced young people aged 16 to 27.

Smash your goals

Do you have a goal you would like to achieve, like getting into university, passing your exams or maintaining your health and happiness?

Our coaching programme can help you smash your goals by creating a thorough plan on how to reach them. We have a dedicated team who are here to listen to you and help you move forward. We know that the care system can often make achieving the things you want in life difficult, or make you feel like you can’t be what you want to be, but we know that you have the tools, passion and determination to do exactly what you want to.

During our 1-1 sessions on the phone (or Zoom) we will talk through your values, what you want out of the future and the tools you need to get there:

Identify your strengths and the things that are important to you
Set goals and create plans for what’s next
Help you achieve the things that are important to you
Turn problems into solutions
Feel more positive about your life and future.

Most importantly, we are here for you. You can decide what you want to talk about, what help you need and what your goals are.

Become exists to help and support you and we are independent of your local authority. Our coach is a professional with loads of knowledge and expertise in helping young people in care and care leavers, so you will always be speaking to someone who understands.

The Care Advice Line is open Monday to Friday – 10am to 5pm

Coaching is available one-to-one via phone call or online via Zoom.

Become is a national charity, you can use the website to search for further support in your area.

Cost

This is a free service

How to get involved

Our coaching is always free, whether you need 1 session, 3 sessions or even 12 sessions.

We’ll work with you to agree on a format that works for you. You’ll have a dedicated coach that you’ll meet for one-to-ones via phone call or zoom, and you will also get to meet other care leavers through our other services, if you want to.
