Each year secondary schools and colleges open their doors to prospective students, parents, and carers. Open events are a great opportunity to look around, meet staff and students, explore the facilities, and get a feel for the learning environment before making your decision.

Tips to look out for when visiting prospective schools

1. First impressions count.  Does it feel a welcoming, secure and happy place?
2. Chat with the students that are helping out; find out their thoughts and feelings about school
3. Do the teachers chat and interact well with your child?
4. Look at how the school will cater for your child’s needs.
